If you're going to resume talks, how about you get somewhere?? Fans are TIRED of your bickering and waiting. They're the reason you guys exist, so why not keep them at the front of your thoughts??
After an eight-day wait between bargaining sessions, negotiations finally resumed Monday night at the league office. Great right?
The talks lasted LESS than two hours. Unless they struck an agreement they both loved, that amount of time isn't going to help anything at all, and was probably just a waste of gas money to get to the league office.
The lockout entered its 65th day on Monday and has already wiped out 327 games, with more cancellations on the horizon.
The league says that it is waiting for the players to present a full proposal on all the major issues — including core economics and player contracting, which deals with the entry-level system, arbitration and free agency.
Here's what the commissioner said:
"We've never heard a full proposal from them. They have given us a variation of the same proposal on economics a couple of times and there was no change in that position. They are still suggesting that they are moving in our direction on economics, but until we know exactly what their position is on economics now, we think it's all tied together and would like to hear it all together.
"It's our position that we've made a couple comprehensive proposals in a row. We'd like to know where they are on all of the issues. We asked that they put together a comprehensive proposal for us to consider."
UGH WE DON'T CARE. JUST GET IT DONE.
We think it's becoming foolish, especially when the NHL brought in an extra $3 billion in revenue last year. Nobody is exactly hurting over there money-wise.
