We already gave up hope a while ago… and nothing has changed.
It's really just looking like there is no way any sort of a season could be held.
The NHL and the Player's Association entered into talks again, this time with federal mediators.
There were two days of face-to-face talks between the NHL and the NHLPA. They first met separately with the mediators, and then together.
So… how did things go?! Terribly as usual.
The NHL's deputy commissioner said:
"Today, we concluded two days of mediation with FMCS mediators and representatives of the NHL Players' Association. After spending several hours with both sides over two days, the presiding mediators concluded that the parties remained far apart, and that no progress toward a resolution could be made through further mediation at this point in time. We are disappointed that the mediation process was not successful."
Ugh… this is just getting ridiculous.
Someone needs to start making some serious concessions or else hockey might not ever happen again!
That, or there are going to be some major layoffs on the executive side of things to hopefully get some fresh blood in there, and get a new deal struck between two parties who are actually willing to work together!!
