If Diet Pepsi suddenly tastes different to you, relax!
You're not crazy, and your waitress didn't accidentally put a Tab on your tab.
Diet Pepsi has quietly begun replacing their artificial sweetener aspartame with a blend of aspartame and acesulfame potassium in an attempt to keep the soda sweeter longer.
But will the 7th most popular soft drink in North America lose some of its popularity as its taste evolves? John Sicher of Beverage Digest says:
"A change in sweetener does not change the flavor."
Oh really? Tell that to sugar!
The change is a gradual one, with the company slowly replacing all the Diet Pepsi currently on shelves in anticipation of a big push next month with a new campaign and slogan:
"Love Every Sip."
Something tells us Pepsi fans will let the company know exactly how they feel about every sip- for bitter or worse!
