A new study found that there's a compound in cruciferous veggies like broccoli that might be able to fight cancer!
In the lab, the compound was able to kill leukemia cells!!
That's absolutely ahmayzing!
The compound, sulforaphane, was incubated with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and it made the cancer cells die.
What's even more amazing… is the sulforaphane didn't seem to have any effect at all on healthy cells!
Acute lymphoblastic leukemia is mainly seen in children and has an 80% cure rate.
Though some kids don't respond to treatment, so hopefully they can find a way to turn broccoli into a treatment!
The researchers said:
"So while eating cruciferous vegetables is good for you, it will not have the same effect as what we saw in the lab."
So keep eating broccoli but if you're sick… let the doctors do their thing.
Yay broccoli! Yay science!
