After a less than stellar season, 6-10, the New York Jets have fired their general manager, Mike Tannenbaum!
The Jets' coach Rex Ryan just dodged a bullet and will remain the head coach.
Tannenbaum was on the chopping block mainly because of some weak drafts and bad decisions when it came to contracts for Mark Sanchez and Santonio Holmes.
Also for that whole Tim Tebow thing. LOLz!
"Mike devoted 15 years of service to the Jets, and I want to thank him for his hard work and dedication. Although he helped guide us to two consecutive AFC Championship games, we are not where we want to be, and a new general manager will be critical to getting this team back on the right track."
Last year the Jets went 8-8, this year 6-10, but Ryan still gets to be head coach.
We guess they feel he did the best with what he had to work with.
"I believe that he has the passion, the talent, and the drive to successfully lead our team."
That's good news! Rex must feel so lucky he's not next on the chopping block.
Let's hope the Jets do better next year or else Ryan might be next!
