Hey hockey fans… guess what??
The NHL lockout is finally OVER!!!
After 113 days of no hockey, the owners and players have actually reached an agreement!
There was a 16-hour negotiating session that ended at 4:45 am yesterday.
Both sides still have to ratify the deal but it's basically done, with a half season expected to start by January 19th.
They really waited until the last minute, because this season will only be about 48-50 games.
The NHL commissioner had said he didn't want to play a season that was less than 48 games.
Way to cut it so close! Jeez!
If you've been following the deets, the agreement so far has set a seven-year limit on player contract length, with eight years for players re-signing with the same team and they've set the new salary caps.
The 2013-14 salary cap will be set at $64.3 million with a floor of $44 million.
We couldn't care less about the details, as long as hockey gets back on the air! It's all about the fans, not the money!
Way to work it out, NHL! Sure took you long enough!
