The United States has more violent deaths than any other first world nation!

A large part of that is because of how many firearms owners there are and how easy it is to access a gun, whether buying one legally or finding one in a home.

A newly released report by two leading health research institutions found that not only do we suffer more violent deaths, but we also have more drug-related deaths, infant deaths and AIDS deaths.

That's all just awful!

The life expectancy for men in the US is 75.6 years and 80.7 for women.

That's still pretty good, but there's a lot would could do to raise that by at least a decade!

We previously mentioned that we're already leading the way in dying young.

The report from the National Research Council and the Institute of Medicine said:

"With lives and dollars at stake, the United States cannot afford to ignore this problem."

Oh how right they are! We DEF can't.

We cannot continue to live like this!

Come on, America! Let's make 2013 the year we change everything!
