This is kinda way cool!
Missy Franklin is the 17-year-old American high school swimmer who dominated the 2012 London Olympics and took home a gold!
She's also still a normal 17-year-old girl, which means she's still in high school.
That also means she's still eligible to compete in her high school swim meets!
Instead of going pro and raking in the dough, she's gonna stay amateur, saying:
"The best part of staying amateur is that I am still able to do things like this. I have given up so much for that."
So now she can help her school, Regis Jesuit High School, to win a state title!
And now every other high school that has good swimmers is pissed off because they have to face an Olympic champion.
A rival high school's coach said:
"If they didn't have her, they had no chance of winning."
But it's not like this is some publicity stunt or some weird bending of the rules.
Missy is 17 and in high school. Of course she can compete with their swim team!
We hope she helps her high school win every possible title there is!
