Look out below!
ADHD rates among children continue to grow, grow, grow!
But is the rise real, or driven by greater awareness of the condition?
Unlike previous studies though this particular group of researchers also explored which sub population had the highest ADHD incidence, and it turned out that white kids in wealthier neighborhoods had the highest diagnosis rate.
Asian children were the least likely to be diagnosed with ADHD diagnosis or receive treatment.
And Hispanic children are usually older than average when they are diagnosed with ADHD if they are ever diagnosed at all.
The issue of diagnosing ADHD remains controversial.
One researched explained the quandary:
“If you diagnose [ADHD] early and you initiate treatment early, the children will do better."
But on the other side of it some kids may be taking drugs that they don't need.
We're glad they're getting this research done now instead of later.
It is so important!
