No, DNA isn't an abbreviation for some data storage company.
We mean deoxyribonucleic acid! You know, DNA! The stuff genes are made out of.
They stored it all in DNA by converting the computer data's ones and zeroes into the four-alphabet code that DNA uses.
It did take a machine two weeks to "read" the DNA though. Remind anyone of floppy disks? LOLz!
The beauty of storing information in DNA is that if left alone in a cold, dry and dark place, it can stay good for a very loooong time.
The technology isn't really in place yet to fully take advantage of this but think about the future.
Imagine all of Wikipedia being stored in a space no larger than your finger tip.
Sounds ahmayzing! Way to go science!
