First off, what self-respecting vegetarian is going to Taco Bell?? Ha!
Secondly, are there THAT MANY of them that Taco Bell wants to pull an ad for being not offensive at all?
The new ad (above) has a voice-over laying into people who bring veggies to
Super Bowl sports(?) parties — aka Game Day — because it's lazy, not because they're veggies. Vegetarians are pissed because they think it's anti-veggie!
The ad says:
"Veggies on game day is like punting on fourth and one — it's a cop out."
This is said while showing someone non-chalantly throwing veggies at a host, in a way that he just cares less about bringing anything at all. Which is SUCH a d-bag thing to do!
If you're going to bring a veggie platter, make it an awesome one! Not one that takes two seconds to buy at a store on the way!
But that didn't stop CSPI, the Center For
People With Too Much Time On Their Hands Science In The Public Interest (shouldn't it be CFSITPI, then?), from encouraging people to tweet at Taco bell because they though the commercial was discouraging people from eating vegetables.
Give us a break! It's Taco Bell!!
Soooooo apparently this isn't their BIG Super Bowl ad. We didn't really think it was, but we should tell you guys there's still going to be one on Sunday! The thing is… nobody is really allowed to say 'Super Bowl' in advertising without paying a buttload of money to say it, so when we hear "game day", which is what everyone uses as code so as to not have to pay, we think Super Bowl!
That, and the fact this ad showed up and was pulled right when there aren't ANY games left, except the Super Bowl…
Either way, this was not THE Super Bowl ad, as that one will still be airing on Sunday, so don't miss it!
We wonder if it'll be pro-veggies?? LOLz!!
