Allen Iverson is an alcoholic, apparently, and the court that says so also says that he need to be treated for it — or he won't get to see his kids!

Brutal, but completely necessary!

During the final proceedings of his divorce, the judge awarded Allen's now ex-wife Tawanna legal and physical custody of the kids. This ruling came with stipulations, and all at the expense of Allen's drinking problems.

If he wants access to his visitation rights, he cannot drink any alcohol for the next 18 months — and until they're all 18 years old, he cannot drink within 24 hours of seeing them!

Here's some of what the judge said during his ruling:

"[Iverson] does not know how to manage the children; has little interest in learning to manage the children and has actually, at times, been a hindrance to their spiritual and emotional growth and development.

For example, he has refused to attend to an obvious and serious alcohol problem, which has caused him to do inappropriate things in the presence of the children while impaired.

He has left the children alone without supervision. He has left his young daughters in a hotel room with men who are unknown to the mother."

Good for the judge for wanting to protect the kids!!

Plus, we can't help but notice that this is aimed at helping Allen too — he also has to see a shrink and attend AA meetings for a year.

Getting sober will be the best thing for his life, we're sure of it!
