This is so great!
The sports world needs to know, it's okay to be gay!
Sean Karson, co-captain of MIT's baseball team, recently came out to his teammates.
Sean apparently asked his coach if he could say a few words to his teammates during an indoor practice one day.
His coach said:
"I had no idea what he had in mind. He had just returned from a conference in California, so I assumed he was going to talk about his company."
What he actually did, was come out to his teammates in a heartfelt speech.
When he was done, something he didn't expect would happen did, saying:
"They came up and gave me high fives and said they’d have my back and everything. It was so supportive, it was ridiculous."
And that's the way it should be!!
Even the few teammates that held back initially sent him emails later saying they really "respected [him], but that they needed to collect their thoughts first."
We're so glad that he was courageous enough to do that! Hopefully this is only the beginning of athletes coming out in sports!
