Oh no! Does this mean no more sweaty men in tight spandex?!?
The International Olympic Committee came to an agreement on Tuesday to remove wrestling from the 2020 Olympics, and we cannot believe that this is happening!!
"This is a process of renewing and renovating the program for the Olympics. In the view of the executive board, this was the best program for the Olympic Games in 2020. It's not a case of what's wrong with wrestling, it is what's right with the 25 core sports."
The decision was made after members of the IOC turned in their votes to a secret ballot, and unfortunately, wrestling was the sport that had to go.
On top of the vote, the board also analyzed deets such as ticket sales, TV ratings, popularity, anti-doping policy and global participation.
However, even though the vote came up to getting rid of wrestling, Adams noted that "the decision is not final, the session is sovereign and the session will make the final decision."
Guess we still have a little time to know what the FINAL agreement is, so hopefully these
barbarians athletes still have a chance!!
