Woman Dies After Drinking 10 Liters Of Coca-Cola A Day!

woman dies after drinking 10 liters of coke per day

DAYUM, these soda addictions are getting real!

Back in 2010, a woman named Natasha Harris went into cardiac arrest and then unfortunately passed. And when she died, a pathologist found that she had hypokalemia, which means she had lower-than-normal amount of potassium in her blood.

Shortly after, Natasha's family revealed that she had an addiction to Coca-Cola, and if she didn't get a hit of at least 10 liters of that pop per day, she would start going CRAY!

Coroner David Crerar then found that her excessive drinking of Coke led her to cardiac arrhythmia, which causes abnormal electrical activity in the heart.

Crerar noted:

“I find that when all the available evidence is considered, were it not for the consumption of very large quantities of Coke by Natasha Harris, it is unlikely that she would have died when she died and how she died."

But of course, just like any normal company would do, Coca-Cola argued that there was no way their product could've killed Harris.

They stated:

"[Any] grossly excessive ingestion of any food product, including water [is harmful]. We believe that all foods and beverages can have a place in a balanced and sensible diet combined with an active lifestyle."

Hmmm… that sounds all fine and dandy, but girlfriend still died, and the coroner gave out the deets as to why she passed.

Everyone knows too much sugar is never good!

R.I.P. Miz Harris.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! Anyone who drinks that much of anything a day is bound to end up 6ft under! For crying out loud. This sound just like the BS you Perez, the rest of the media cronies and some misinformed politicians with moon sized egos are trying to pull over America with effing guns.

Hypokalemia is caused by excess water ingestion. So, as odd as it sounds, it was the water in the coke that killed her, not the sugar. If anybody thinks water can't kill you, look up the more common name, "water intoxication".

Hypokalemia is a lack of potassium which is required for normal contractions of the heart, along with sodium and calcium. The article stated she had heart arrhythmia which is caused not only by the lack of potassium but the excessive caffeine. No where was sugar stated as the cause nor water intoxication. The increased caffeine would act as a diuretic, causing her to be dehydrated and not intoxicated by water. Also, the increase of sodium (check your lables, recommended daily allowance is 2300 mg a day) would also add to the heart problems (hypertension as one example.) I don't doubt that she may have been diabetic, however that was not listed as the cause of death. And btw, water intoxication is hyponatremia.

This woman was an idiot. She had 8 kids and she was only about 31. If you are that stupid that you drink 10 litres of Coke a day you deserve to die because you are obviously not smart enough to contribute to society.

Re: KiwiRach – certainly not me. Unless you didn't read my post correctly (and I'll assume just that) Anything in excess is bad for you. Soda, water, FOOD, coffee. Excess is BAD. So for this website to make it sound like Coke killed her is wrong, in my opinion. She did this to herself. Not that it matters now, she's gone so whatever. Hopefully her many children will learn from their mother's mistake and not do the same.

Re: Rosie – Maybe it kept her awake…EIGHT kids? Yikes. Calling her an idiot is harsh. I mean, how many people would think their heart would stop if they drank a lot of non-acoholic something. The question here is why didn't her annual blood tests show her low potassium levels and then this would have been addressed, unless she didn't go for a yearly.
