Mindy McCready Is The Fifth Person To Die After Appearing On Celebrity Rehab

| Filed under: DrugsR.I.P.Sad SadDr. DrewAlcohol

Mindy McCready committed suicide on Sunday with a self-inflicted gunshot, and after learning that prescription drugs and alcohol were found in her system at the time of her death — she's also the fifth person to pass that appeared on VH1's Celebrity Rehab within the last two years.

Oh man!

The show ran from 2008 to 2011, and had a total a five seasons.

Referencing McCready's death, the show's former host, Dr. Drew Pinksy said:

"Mental health issues can be life threatening and need to be treated with the same intensity and resources as any other dangerous potentially life threatening medical condition. Treatment is effective. If someone you know is suffering please be sure he or she gets help and maintains treatment."

Before Mindy committed suicide, Jeff Conaway, Joey Kovar, Mike Starr and Rodney King were the other four individuals that appeared on Celebrity Rehab, and are sadly no longer with us.

The country star died at the young age of 37.

R.I.P. Mindy.

I wouldn't ask Dr. Pinsky to fix an ingrown toenail.

Let's not be so quick to judge Dr. Drew. Look at the statistics surrounding addiction. It's a deadly disease, and treatment most often continues for the rest of one's life. These patients are under Dr. Drew's care for 1 month in a residential setting. After that, if they elect not to complete his recommended aftercare they usually relapse. Recovery is an active process and requires work. On another note… was it really suicide? These two deaths seem awfully suspicious.

99% of the problems associated with the make-believe "DISEASE OF ADDICTION" are from the legal system….NOT THE USE of BOOZE/DRUGS!

Dr. Drew warns addicts from the get go. You are killing yourself, if you don't stop you will die. These deaths just highlight how true that is, it should be a wake up call to some. It's not a Celebrity Rehab curse it's an addiction curse. God help us poor weak souls.

That's what happens when people are addicted to booze and drugs…they end up dead. Duh.
