It's a shame that it's shocking to us when we hear about powerful business players doing good with their money! It happens less and less with the amount of greed in the world.
Sumner Redstone is one of those people that helps restore our faith a little bit, as he just donated $700k to benefit a Cambodian non-profit that helps impoverished children!
Here's what the CBS/Viacom chairman had to say:
"Cambodian Children’s Fund not only provides some of the most destitute children of Cambodia with a comprehensive education, but goes even further, providing the essentials of shelter and nutritional meals that are necessary for learning to take place.
"As a longtime supporter of CCF, I have been so inspired by the accomplishments of these children, and am proud to strengthen and sustain programming which helps thousands of children, their families, and the entire community build a better life."
CCF is non-profit, and a worthy cause!
Regardless of the fact that Sumner is worth and estimated $4.1 billion, $700k is a lot of money — even if it looks like chump change to him. In the end, he could've given nothing instead, but he chose to give any amount at all, which shows us that he cares. Plus this isn't the first time he's donated.
He made contributions to the CCF of $500,000 in April 2011 and $720,000 in June of that same year!
We wish more moguls would want to be as involved and charitable as this!!
