We can't even begin to express how incredibly moved we are by the dignity, candor, and bravery Valerie Harper has maintained while publicly discussing her terminal brain cancer diagnosis.
The 73-year-old star of The Mary Tyler Moore Show recently discovered that she has leptomeningeal carcinomatosis, which is a very rare condition that happens when cancer cells break into the fluid-filled membrane surrounding the brain, and even though she's expected to only live for another three months, she has remained a positive attitude while embracing the time on this Earth she has left, and even filmed an appearance on The Doctors to bring attention to this heart-wrenching condition!
Yet, in spite of all of this, the actress has still found the time to reach out to her fans, and took to Facebook yesterday to thank everyone for their well-wishes and concern!
She wrote:
Words simply can not express how the overwhelming out pouring of love and good wishes has touched my heart. To every single one of you who reached out to me expressing your concern through twitter, facebook, my website, via phone, text, email, cards, letters … I want to thank YOU for your beautiful support! DESPITE this devastating diagnosis, I'm feeling well, living normally and am forging a positive path forward!
Simply incredible!
You are such an inspiration, Valerie, and we can only hope and pray that you are able to continue enjoying everything you can that this world has to offer you before you begin your next great adventure into the unknown!
Stay strong, stay positive, and find peace knowing that you and your legacy will never be forgotten, and will continue to be adored for years and years to come!
