If you ask us, we see characters drink more wine than they do beer (we can't remember much beer at all!) on the show, so we feel like this is a missed opportunity to fill up your chalice like Tyrion Lannister!
Still, it's pretty cool to see HBO go out of their way to support a show in a unique way!
They teamed up with brewers Ommegang to make a blonde ale called the Iron Throne. What's particularly badass about this is that Ommegang has decided NOT to just put a new label on one of their ordinary beers, but actually come up with a whole line of brand new seasonal brews for the show — Iron Throne is just the first! It's out now in 750 ml bottles and on tap, whereas the future three have yet to see the light of day!
Here's what one reviewer wrote about the taste:
"The taste is extremely easy-drinking: malty, vaguely fruity, a little spicy, but nothing overpowering. It goes down especially smooth for being 6.5% ABV."
Sounds decent enough to kick back while watching some dragons light up a city!
Also, it's a good thing winter is coming — it'll keeps these brews FROSTY! Ha!
