How rare is it to be born without a penis, yet still have a set of working testicles?
Andrew Wardle, a British security guard, is that ONE. He was born with his bladder outside of his body, which they successfully put back inside with surgery, but he still didn't have a penis. He's about to get one!
Here's what he says:
"Things like having sex and starting a family, something which so many people take for granted, could actually become a possibility."
The operation will have three parts, starting with trying to fold a flap of skin from his arm, along with all of its blood vessels and nerves, into a tube to put onto his pubic area. Then, he will be fitted with a pump-operated implant so he can urinate and have sex (hopefully separately).
In all seriousness, it makes us extremely happy that for someone who has had such a difficult life is about to realize one of his dreams to "finally start living like a normal man".
The interesting part of this outside of the rarity of the condition, is that he claims to have had sexual relations with more than 100 women, but his lack of a penis put them off — with one punching him in the face and another cheating on him. It all led to drugs and a suicide attempt.
His sister was the one who went to his childhood doctor for advice, and was told about the new procedure, and now he has all the hope in the world!
We hope it works!!
