This is just AH-MAYZING!
Richard Branson and Bill Clinton have joined forces to help launch the social initiative called Haiti Forest, and we're loving that these two men are out doing good!!
The initiative is geared toward helping solve social and environmental problems in Haiti by bringing productive, sustainable and socially responsible forests to the country.
On top of the support from the founder of Yunus Social Business and the founder of the Clinton Foundation, Haiti Forest also has support from the Government of Haiti.
“I am pleased that my Foundation is working with Yunus Social Business and Virgin Unite. Through this partnership, we hope to create a replicable model for programs that demonstrate long-term, positive social and environmental impact as well as economic benefits across Haiti.”
And while Clinton is overjoyed, Branson also noted:
“Haiti Forest is an example how social business represents a unique opportunity to drive economic growth in Haiti. Social Businesses like Haiti Forest that are aimed at an environmental or social need represent not only the solutions to these pressing issues, but the financially sustainable means for continued development in Haiti.”
This movement is focusing on food import, sustainable livelihoods to farmers, re-foresting Haiti and fuel sources.
We really hope that the multi-year project works out great because Haiti will benefit from it greatly!!
