Are glasses REALLY that hard to deal with??
Yeah yeah, some people just don't like wearing them, or having to switch to prescription sunglasses. We get it. But are contacts worth the eye-eating parasites wanting to leave you blind??
Not anymore for this girl!!
It all started off with throbbing pain and redness. This isn't that abnormal for someone who wears contact lenses, but it persisted for Ashley Hide — and then doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong!
Here's what she said about the process:
"They did multiple cultures where they scrape your eye. One time, they had to drill into my eye. It was really nasty."
That seals it, we're having nightmares tonight! LOLz!
Eventually the culprit was found, though, and listed as acanthamoeba, a microscopic parasite found in water… and it would have eaten through her cornea with just a little bit more time. How did it happen?
Dirty-ass contact lenses! GIRL YOU KNOW BETTER!
So what's the solution for those who don't want shizz like this? According to this doctor, throw that shizz out like every day:
"Every day, we see people come in with contact lens related to infections, complications, ulcers. There are all things that are potentially blinding. There is nothing safer or healthier than throwing out the lens every day and starting with a new one the next day."
Or just wear glasses, folks!
Ashley is going to get better, but it won't be until after months of treatment… and months of learning a lesson about cleanliness!
We're glad she's okay!
