This is weird!
Yeah, we understand that Jay-Z is pretty sports centric, what with being a part owner of the Nets and all. We just didn't expect his Roc Nation, an entertainment company, to start taking on sports stars as clients through a partnership with Creative Artists Agency!
Robinson Cano is in the final season of a $57 million contract, and will be the first to sign with them! Right now, he's the second baseman for the Yankees!
Here's what he said in a statement:
"At this point in my career, I am ready to take a more active role in my endeavors on and off the field. I am confident that the pairing of Roc Nation Sports and CAA Sports will be essential in helping me accomplish my short- and long-term goals. I am making this important decision now so I can keep my focus on helping the Yankees succeed in 2013, while minimizing any distractions for me and my teammates."
Having Jay-Z rep you, while being his first sports client, seems like a major distraction — not a minimal one!
Sources are even saying that Jay is planning to be a certified agent, first in baseball and eventually in basketball and football… which means he would have to give up his small share of the Brooklyn Nets to rep basketball players! Will he do it??
It would certainly be an unexpected move!
