New Jersey governor, Chris Christie just banned anyone under the age of 17 from using tanning beds without parental permission of course, and while this law came about after "Tanning Mom" Patricia Krentcil was arrested for allegedly putting her 5-year-old in a tanning bed, Miz Krentcil actually agrees with the new legislation.
Once Christie implemented the bill, he said:
"Governmental regulation of the private sector should always be carefully scrutinized, and sparingly adopted. The new restrictions imposed by this bill followed a single but breathlessly reported incident of a parent bringing a minor child into a tanning facility."
And considering that Patricia put an end to her tanning after she was arrested, she noted:
"I don't think children ever should tan … I believe that it should be something that's spoken about and now it's been rectified after I went through a year of mockery for something I never would do and did not do."
This, however, doesn't mean that kids can't go sunbathe on the beach, but at least it'll keep them from the harmful UV radiation that comes from lying in a tanning bed.
