college students put together marathon for people who didnt complete boston marathon(1)

While many runners didn't get to finish the Boston Marathon yesterday due to the heinous explosions that were planted, students from Boston College have put together the Boston Marathon: The Last 5 for everyone who wants to complete the race that was stopped by bombs.

The Last 5 marathon is scheduled for this Friday at 4:30 PM and is inviting anyone who was affected by the bombing to take part in the five-mile walk from Boston College to Copley Square.

The event organizers said:

For anyone who did not get to finish, For anyone who was injured, and For anyone who lost their life…we will walk. We will walk to show that we decide when our marathon ends."

So far, over 12,000 individuals have signed up, and more people are adding their name every single hour.

This race is part of the many ways that support will be expressed for Boston, and we really hope that there's more to come!

As a senior at Boston College, I cannot begin to explain how fundamental the Boston Marathon has been to BC students. We are located at Mile 21, just as the athletes reach the top of heartbreak hill. This tragedy affected each of us on a personal level. It brings great joy to my heart to see how "Boston Marathon: The Last 5" has made it to Perez. As an avid reader, I cannot express my gratitude for bringing this tribute to your readers. Thank You.

This event has been postponed to allow the FBI and BPD to finish their investigation.
