Lance Armstrong Is Officially Being Sued By The Justice Department!

lance armstrong doping drugs justice department us postal service lawsuit damages sponsor 100 million cycling

Did you think Lance Armstrong could come half-way clean and everyone would just forget about what he did??

NOPE! The U.S. Justice Department has officially filed a lawsuit against Lance (it was inevitable) and his company Tailwind Sports for the millions of dollars that the U.S. Postal Service used in sponsoring the cycling team! We'd say they have every right to, too!

So how much are they going for? Well, the court document says this:

"The USPS paid approximately $40 million to sponsor the USPS cycling team from 1998 to 2004."

The thing is, they aren't going for a measly $40m! They're going for TRIPLE that amount because of the False Claims Act, which would give them more than $100 million in damages!

Mainly, they're saying the use of prohibited drugs constitutes a breach of contract with the Postal Service — and Lance already admitted to all of that! Daaaaamn!

We know you're moving from your home in Texas, Lance, but we didn't think it'd be to a non-extradition country! LOLz!

The most shocking thing about this story is that the US Postal Service managed to deliver the lawsuit on time & to the correct address.

The Justice Dept. should realize that without Lances own admittion to the use of drug without giving him his rights under due process, they have no case. Lance never failed a drug test, before, during and after all the events. The U.S. Antidopping adimitted that he passed all their drug tests when I called them. I thought that in America you are innocent until proven guilty by evidence. Just thought all of you should know.

What a joke! They received amazing coverage for their advertising dollar for the best cyclist the sport has ever seen. I am not saying that cheating is right…it is not, but EVERY rider did it and has been doing it for years. You could not compete without doing it and it was an acceptable practice within the sport. The best did not get caught. Lance Armstrong is being persecuted after the fact and now everyone wants a piece of him…it is not fair. Do you believe that only the MLB players that got all the attention were doing steroids? Get real, the whole league was doing otherwise you could not compete…and they are still doing it. How about we focus on the regulating bodies that are not doing their job and hold them accountable. Lance Armstrong represented his sport (even though he made mistakes) well and forwarded peoples attentions to the sport that would not normally taken any interest at all. He has helped countless people with his foundation and he should be honored for that. Shame on the USPS for this ridiculous lawsuit!
