NBA's Jason Collins Comes Out: Mike Wallace's Homophobic Tweet Gets CONDEMNED By The Miami Dolphins!
When Jason Collins decided to come out of the closet and become the first gay active player in a major professional sport here in the U.S., we all knew there would be someone out there that would say something awful. We also knew, however, that there'd be waaaay more support than backlash!
Unfortunately, we were right about the first part too — and we told you about the ignorant thing that Mike Wallace, who plays for the Miami Dolphins, tweeted out:
“All these beautiful women in the world and guys wanna mess with other guys SMH (shakin' my head) …”
Not cool, right? Well the Dolphins agree with us and the rest of the world as they have condemned Mike's tweet, and have decided to distance themselves from him!
Just kidding, they aren't real dolphins! Here's what the TEAM said:
"Mike Wallace has apologized for his comments, and we have addressed the matter with him.
"Mike’s comments do not reflect the views of the Miami Dolphins. We believe in a culture of inclusiveness and respect, and any statements to the contrary are in no way acceptable to our organization. We will address the entire team about our policy of inclusion and make sure they all understand the importance of respecting individual choices.”
Boom! Exactly what SHOULD be their response!
They mention Mike's apology though… we have to say, if they've accepted that as acceptable, then that's pretty lame!
Otherwise, good on ya, Dolphins! Fight for the LGBT community — we all have every right to be open and proud without being shamed as anyone else!
