Angelina Jolie Hid Her Double Mastectomy Well! Her Schedule Looked Air-Tight!

If you look back at what Angelina Jolie has been doing since the beginning of the year, you'll pretty much see her normal life — it's filled with kids, activities with kids, and her usual humanitarian efforts!

There's almost NO time in between sightings of her that would make anyone think her health was at risk, or that she was having surgeries!

Seriously, check it out:

- She started the process on Feb. 2nd
- Less than two weeks later, they took Vivienne and Knox to Los Angeles' Natural History Museum on Valentine's Day.
- Two weeks later, she went in for the major removal surgery, which can take around 8 hours.
- Less than a month of recovery later, she visited the Republic of Congo with U.K. Foreign Secretary William Hague! They visited with a rescue camp for women to raise awareness of war-zone rape. She had NO signs of pain or discomfort!
- On Easter weekend, she took Maddox and Knox to get some art supplies in Santa Barbara.
- A week later she was at the World Summit in New York on April 4th.
- A few days later she was at the G8 Summit in London with Hague on April 11.
- She then has her final reconstruction surgery with breast implants… just nine weeks after the initial surgery!

That schedule is INSANE for someone who isn't recovering from major surgery, let alone someone who is!!

Still, we're totally glad she made the decision, even though she wanted to keep things private and might have pushed herself through recovery to make it happen. She went from an 87% chance of breast cancer to less than 5%!

We'd say that's worth it!!

Also, we hope she can relax a little now, even if most of the healing has gone by! She deserves it!

To those of you who don't have the best Dr.s and private planes and Nanny's, Cancer sucks and you are heros. No one should have to go through it but for those of you whose mother's and sister's don't go to the Congo on a private plane and rush the healing process because you will lose your job if you don't, yeah you! To the young woman's insurance who doesn't payout for reconstructive surgery and is simply living with scars on your chest and saving money. I think you're amazing

Re: ThIsIsFaLSe – While I understand that a double mastectomy is an ordeal for anyone - getting the best care money can buy, and not having to worry about money, makes it easier. Angelina made a difficult choice and went through a lot, but those who do it without money have it so much harder.

I have been through the same exact surgery that Angelina went through, although I was diagnosed with breast cancer insitu (still in the cell). I did not have to go through radiation or chemotherapy, but elected to have both breasts (plus nipples) removed, and then reconstruction surgery. I wish I had had the choice of saving the 'nips'. You actually feel quite lost without them. And although you have a 'breast' and a fake nipple (the suture skin together and then tattoo the area later), it is not the same. However, I had regular insurance and mine was all covered. I was down for about two to three weeks from the initial surgery, and then went back to work. There are several surgeries to be had with this type of procedure, so it takes a while to heal, but I am so glad I did it. I commend Angelina for taking this step and doing this procedure. Even though she has the 'best money can buy' in the way of travel, surgeons, nannies, etc., she still made the choice to inevitably save her own life. Kudos to her! At then end of the day, she just wants to be around for her kids, and that is all that matters. Rich or not… her kids need her. She is the only mom they have.

Re: rosebud99 – That's why I tried to qualify it with "Cancer sucks" and that "No one should have to go through it" {a double mastectomy} While I think money would take a load off, kids watching their mom in pain and being afraid, because she is still trying to do mom duties while recovering. Also not everyone gets the opportunity of reconstruction, it isn't a given. I have known women who could not factor reconstruction into their choice, young women. I simply didn't hear the word hero bandied about when their choice was made. The listing of the schedule (which Miss Jolie put out the dates) seems to minimize what a real woman might go through. Of course it is not fair Miss Jolie was faced with this choice. Btw I couldn't really tell if you were agreeing w/ me or giving me a "read"lol

While I understand why everyone is saying that she has money and has an easier life than most, but she publicized this to help women, make the public aware of their options and helping to get insurance co to recognize womens health issues. Yes she has money and fame, but she puts it to good use, can you say this about all celebrities or of people with money?
