Someone cue Hit The Road Jack!
The end of a season usually comes with changes, and for the New York Rangers that meant firing their head coach John Tortorella.
The hockey coach had one more year left on his contract, but after losing in the playoffs, he’s found himself on the unemployment line.
There’s no exact reason why he was fired, but there seemed to be a ton of tension between him and his players, which is NO BUENO!
The Rangers’ star goalie Henrik Lundqvist hasn’t committed to signing an extension with them, team captain Ryan Callahan said they “underachieved,” and Tortorella apparently even estranged NHL veteran Brad Richards who said:
"Obviously, it's another thing in a relationship that will never change now. But I want to play hockey and that's all I'm really worried about. Relationships come and go."
Tortorella lasted five years with the Rangers, and went to the playoffs four times, but never won the Stanley Cup.
Hey, if you’re not winning, something has to change!
