As if we needed more proof that Jason Collins is awesome!!!
The NBA big man, who became the first active athlete to come out of the closet, showed just how proud of his sexuality he is as he marched at the Boston gay pride parade this weekend!
Jason showed up with his college roommate and Massachusetts congressman Joe Kennedy and wore a Nike t-shirt with a rainbow-colored hashtag that read "#BETRUE."
"I realized I needed to go public when Joe Kennedy, my old roommate at Stanford and now a Massachusetts congressman, told me he had just marched in Boston's 2012 Gay Pride Parade. I'm seldom jealous of others, but hearing what Joe had done filled me with envy. I was proud of him for participating but angry that as a closeted gay man I couldn't even cheer my straight friend on as a spectator."
Well, Jason got the chance to show off his pride himself this weekend, and Joe Tweeted a picture of the two together and wrote:
"a day i'll never forget. could not have had more fun marching in @bostonpride with my friend @jasoncollins34."
We've been so amazed to see how Jason has become such a role model for younger athletes and he continues to help the world of sports make MAJOR progress in accepting homosexuality!
Way to go, Jason!
