Angelina Jolie Wants Everyone To Have Access To Genetic Testing!

| Filed under: Brad PittAngelina JolieHealth

brad pitt says angelina jolie is working for gene mutation testing for everyone

She. Is. A. Saint!

We’ve been inspired by Angelina Jolie’s choice to preventatively undergo a double mastectomy, and she just keeps on surprising us!

Brad Pitt revealed that his lady love was able to find out about her BRCA gene mutation thanks to tests, but not everyone has access to them. The World War Z star revealed:

"Her focus now is just to make sure all people have access to the [genetic] testing and know what they can do about it. We were really surprised and moved how many other people were dealing with the same issue. Her idea was that someone could learn from her story—she would love to share that. It's just been a beautiful thing to watch. It seems to be a galvanizing moment for people dealing with this. [Discovering BRCA] doesn't have to be a scary thing—it can be an empowering thing."

This couple is everything.

If people had access to more testing, just imagine how many forms of cancer could be stopped ahead of time.

We’re so proud of Angie for being so brave and helping other people who are going through the same thing.

Yes! Let everyone have access to genetic testing! Then when they find out that they are predisposed for certain diseases due to gene mutations which may never affect the individual, their insurance company won't cover them for anything! Oh that sounds so much fun.

She can pay for all of our testing then.

Re: bree311 – Good point. What is the point of getting testing when you can't afford to do anything about it.

How exactly is she helping other people who are going through the same thing? Will she be paying for the tests? She chose to have her breast tissue removed and implants (pretty big ones at that) put in. She didn't have cancer. Those women who have had cancer and had actual double mastectomies are the saints. She experienced none of what most Breast Cancer patients go through. Pardon my rant, but it makes me nuts to hear her hailed as Brave Angelina, Saint Angelina ad nauseum.

Great she and Brad can start a Charity to help fund genetic testing. It is very expensive and not covered by insurance.

She wasn't very saintly when she whored herself out with a married man.

So if by definition a saint is a person that:

Commits adultery and breaks up a marriage.
    Abuses drugs and encouraged it.
    Sexually loose with her morals.
Has all the money in the world to afford the elective surgery and the reconstruction that 90% of these poor women that get it and can't afford the preemptive surgery, then by all means color me convinced.

    Has she quit smoking?

jeez…can't these over privileged celebrities just shut the fuck up…

She'll never be a saint, but she will be admired if she donates to a fund to help women test for the BRCA gene, and also helps them pay for the necessary medical treatment. If she gave 1% of her net worth, 433 women could be tested. Let's see if she truly has a heart. Her history is not very positive toward other WOMEN, only disadvantaged youth in countries far far way, that treat her like a princess!

Re: DaVinci – Oh so she must be an awful person for taking the money shes earned and doing what she wants with it? Yah..send her to hell. Idiot. Oh and move on from the whole she broke up a marriage thing. She did not, anyone with a little common sense knows that no woman in the world could break up a marriage that did not want to be broken up.

Pretty sure my Medicare does not cover it, not sure about the new Medigap policy I just bought. Guess I will just have to hope for the best, I am a smoker but it does not run in my family at all.

WOW …such negative comments!!! My husband just battled cancer last year. My kids are now up for getting tested for his specific cancer 20 yrs BEFORE the mandated time. If you could do something NOW that could help you live another 20, 30 years, wouldn't you do it? Find a way instead of sitting here complaining and blaming everything under the sun? Ya, I'd be looking for insurance and figuring out a way to get it covered. And guess what, my insurance wasn't going to cover the testing but they are now because I contested the denial process and I won. For my kids. So stop whining and DO something. Figure out your options. CANCER FRIGGING SUCKS!!!!
