Are you a young man (who can't afford authentic Mexican food)? If so, Taco Bell is aiming its new menu directly at you!
They're testing out a brand new Power Protein menu in about 40 locations in Dayton, Ohio, starting on July 25th. Of course, a "protein" menu just means that they're going to add more meat for you — double the portion of chicken or steak.
CEO Greg Creed says that people are looking for options that play up the "performance" factor, as evidenced by the boom in protein bars and cereals at supermarkets. What he doesn't understand is that nobody in their right mind is going to Taco Bell for help in performance!
The burritos and bowls will have more than 20 grams of protein and less than 450 calories. Which is still a lot of calories, you guys!
The better option would be not to look to Taco Bell to get your protein — only if you want something quick and cheap once in a while! Ha!
Listen. We get what they want to do, so we want to echo something their CEO said: They aren't perfect, but they're trying! Heathier is better than no change at all!
