james gandolfini friend says he had no alcohol in his system during death

James Gandolfini may has struggled with drugs and alcohol in his past, but according to one of his close friends, neither played a role in his death.

Earlier, a source at the Boscolo Exedra Roma hotel said The Sopranos was last spotted eating a HUGE meal with his son and had 8 alcoholic drinks during his last meal.

However, family friend Michael Kobold says they have seen the autopsy and that James died on natural causes and nothing was found in his system.

In fact, he says he was with the actor during the meal in question and there was no booze involved:

"Except for the foie gras, looking at what was listed, all of that stuff is something I had with the family yesterday and the pina coladas were virgin pina coladas, they were drunk by his son. So you guys know Jim, it's not his drink of choice. He doesn't drink pina coladas in 40 degree [Celsius] heat."

He went on to say that they are still waiting on all of the paperwork on James' death:

"In Italy it can take up to 10 days to get all the necessary documents and paperwork to repatriate the body. We are looking forward to working with the Italian government, the officials, to shorten that process. We expect that to be Wednesday, maybe Thursday."

According to James's family, they had no knowledge of any medical issues leading up to that night.

Regardless of what led to his death, we are still deeply saddened by the loss of a great actor and an ever greater man. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family.

So what if he did? The man obviously enjoyed the good things in life for years - what he had for lunch that day would hardly make a difference. The family says he had no medical issues, but anyone can see he was a heart attack waiting to happen. My husband checks out fine at all his medicals, but he is overweight and in a high stress job - I worry about his heart all the time.

Heart attacks are usually caused by plaque build up in the artery. Having a few drinks didn't kill him.

Re: rosebud99 – True, but he had a good life.
Rosebud, wishing your husband many more good years. I lost mine of almost 33 years 4.5 years ago at age 74. Still miss him to this day, but the ache around the heart eases a bit after the first year. All the best to you.

yes its not just one meal thatll do it or even food a high bp can kill u or cause heart attacks taking 100mg aspirin a day can thin ur blood and help reduce this even if its undiagnosed a heart attaCK is a heart attack and unless it was genetic something caused it yes exactly if i get stressed my bp goes up also need to avoid SALT as that pushes up the BP (blood pressure)
