Despite Nelson Mandela's small signs of improvement while in critical yet stable condition, his family isn't optimistic for a recovery. On the flip side, though, it sounds like they're optimistic about his passing — which is less about them wanting him to pass, and more of them putting their faith into God and his plans.
Whether you believe in a higher power or not, it sure is comforting to know that such a sad situation isn't breaking an entire family down. Nelson has been battling and intense lung infection, which is a lot to handle at 94 years old.
Here's what Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, who was married to Nelson for almost 40 years, had to say:
"It is extremely painful to see him going through what he's going through now. But it's God's wish."
She then dispelled rumors that the family needed to decided to pull the plug:
"It was nonsense to suggest we needed to take a decision to pull the tubes."
Zindzi Mandela also had a few words, telling the world this:
"When people say the family must let go, and we say let go of what? In fact he is deciding what's happening with himself. It's between him and his maker. It's not to do with us whatsoever."
If Nelson truly is on the verge of passing, the only thing we can hope for is that it happens with no pain, and no fear. We would expect nothing less from such an amazing figure, who only deserves the best, even when it comes to moving on.
Our hearts go out to his family.
