If you had to have a snack, why would you ever choose super-expensive, wine-infused popcorn? It sounds awful, and it has to be the most inefficient way to get slammed possible! LOLz!
The company that disagrees with the thought that ideas can be bad, Populence, makes gourmet popcorn in NYC. They even call their store a gourmet popcorn bar, but if you ask us, not everything can or should be called a bar. A popcorn bar? Really?
Anyway, they joined forces with the New Zealand winery Kim Crawford and the allegiance resulted in new wine-soaked popcorn flavors: Pinot Noir Chocolate Drizzle and Sauvignon Blanc Kettle!
Here's what the founder of Populence is claiming, because it's her business and of course she'd claim this:
"People are always picking up our popcorn for wine pairing parties. The idea of actually incorporating a high-end wine such as Kim Crawford into a unique new recipe is exciting."
The translation here is that they're putting money into it, so of course they'll tell a publication that it's all going really well!
Here's the most non-shocking part about this: it isn't cheap!
OF COURSE IT ISN'T! It's not like you can spend pennies, pop some popcorn, and turn around and sell it at a reasonable price! Nope, you have to charge $28 for a one-gallon tin (who wants to bet it costs like $.75 to make?) in their store, and $35 on their website!
We haven't tried it, of course, but for that price we don't think we'll be going out of our way to try something that sounds unpalatable anyway! LOLz!
If you're paying $28 dollar for a tub of popcorn, you're a sucker!
