Well this is… strange! LOLz!
Nelson Mandela's grandson, Mandla Mandela, chief of the Mandela clan, is accused of grave tampering — and he has until 2 pm today to (and we're not making this up) return relatives' bodies exhumed from their graves!
The court gave him less than a day in Mthatha to return the bodies of three of the former South African president's dead children. Which is just as weird as it sounds. They are to be returned to the village of Qunu, where Nelson grew up. Apparently Mandla infuriated sixteen relatives who have taken him to court over reburying the remains, and has weirded out countless other people around the globe — including us!
Apparently he hadn't asked for permission or even told anyone he was going to do it! So why would he even think of doing such a thing?
Well, it's sounding like the universal catalyst for bad ideas: MONEY!
According to those close to Nelson, he wants to be buried in a simple garden, with his children, in a place where he has the best childhood memories. So the bodies of his kids were to be moved to that garden to rest with him.
Mandla, however, is the chief of Mvezo. And he totally would rather Nelson be buried somewhere he could rake in profit from tourism!
Here's what the source says as to what happened next:
'It is believed that Mandla moved the bodies of Mr Mandela's eldest daughter Thembi, who died in a car crash in 1969, Magkatho, who died of aids in 2005 and Makaziwe, who died of meningitis aged just nine months in 1948, in an attempt to cash in when his grandfather dies.
He reportedly moved the bodies as part of a ploy to have Mr Mandela buried inside a £4million visitors' centre that he has built.'
Holy shizz! That's movie villain-level of greed!
Just honor your grandfather's wishes — it's just too bad you blew that 4 million, because it could've gone to helping your people instead! Now all you have are tampering charges and an order to put the bodies back!
