Being faced with jail time can make even the best of friends flip on each other.
The police are still digging up dirt on Aaron Hernandez, and it got a lot easier for them when his sidekick Carlos Ortiz flipped on his buddy.
“Ortiz did confirm that he was with Aaron Hernandez on the night in question. Ortiz then went on to explain that Hernandez has another address that not many people know about. Ortiz referred to this location as an apartment-style location, commonly referred to as a ‘flop house.’ ”
There was plenty of incentive for Ortiz to talk because he’s been in a lot of trouble outside of the Odin Lloyd murder, and could be offered a deal or immunity if anything comes from his tip.
An onlooker said the cops were heavily focusing on the pool area at Hernandez’s flop house. Overall they found some damning stuff, including a white hoodie and a red cap which, according to Bates:
“[Is] consistent in color and type with the sweatshirt that Hernandez is observed to be wearing on surveillance cameras the night of the homicide… The white sweatshirt could be used to assist in linking Hernandez to the scene of the crime. The baseball hat could help provide the whereabouts of Hernandez on the Friday night before the homicide. This night in particular is a critical aspect in the timeline of events leading up to the homicide.”
It gets worse for the former New England Patriot too. The PoPo also found 11 boxes of ammunition, along with other things like paychecks and his rental car agreement from Hertz.
