A couple of days ago, Marc Anthony was given the honor of singing God Bless America at the 2013 MLB All-Star Game in New York, and as you probably would expect, he knocked it out of the park!
Unfortunately, we started to hear that people were responding with racist tweets, saying that someone who isn't from the U.S. shouldn't be allowed to sing the song!
We're guessing they didn't get the memo that he was actually born and raised in New York and his parents are of Puerto Rican descent, which happens to be a United States territory!
"There were some statements made that people were upset that they would have someone from another country sing the national anthem. Let’s get this straight. I was born and raised in New York. You can’t get more New York than me."
You tell them, Marc!
It's pretty shocking to see how easy it is for people to jump to conclusions and react so negatively based solely on the way someone looks or talks!
It's 2013, people! A quick trip to Google or Wikipedia could have saved us all a MAJOR headache!
What do U think about Marc's response??
