We really did think this might have been the Open to end Tiger Wood's major championship dry spell, but after 72 holes it was apparent that Tiger was going to be living in that drought for a while yet — even though he came SO CLOSE to nabbing the win!
His final round ended 3-over-par 74 at Muirfield Golf Club, which left him tied for sixth. It's been 61 months since his last major win!
"I've won 14 and in that spell where I haven't won since Torrey, I've been in there. It's not like I've lost my card and not playing out here. So I've won some tournaments in that stretch, and I've been in probably about half the majors on the back nine on Sunday with a chance to win during that stretch. I just haven't done it yet. And hopefully it will be in a few weeks."
Tiger's next show will be at the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone in Akron, Ohio, but his next chance to end win-drought will be the following week in the PGA Championship at Oak Hill in Rochester, N.Y.!
All we can do is wish him luck, and we hope that his elbow holds up for him! Plus he totally won a different kind of battle last week, which is probably waaaay more important anyway! LOLz!
