Dolly Parton MIGHT HAVE had a secret surgery to help prevent full-blown esophageal cancer, but the news is coming from the National Enquirer — so we should take it with a grain of salt until we hear more!
In the meantime, it's actually super interesting!
According to the source, Dolly allegedly recently underwent a secret surgery to implant a state-of-the-art device into her esophagus, which, even though it's experimental, was done in a bid to prevent her from getting esophageal cancer.
It's a secret because she didn't want anyone to worry! Here's what the insider said:
“She researched her condition and knew that, without treatment, developing cancer was a real possibility. Dolly always projects an upbeat, positive image, but underneath that she was terrified. Dolly knew something had to be done — or she could die."
Here recent weight loss and hard look at her health is what created the worry! The insider continues:
“Her weight was dropping dramatically, she was chugging ant-acid medication, and she couldn’t eat anything but soft, bland foods. Dolly was worried at first that she wouldn’t be able to have the procedure. When she learned about this treatment, she knew it was her last hope.
The procedure was supposed to last just two hours, but it took five. When it was over, Dolly said she wanted to get on her bus and head home that same day. But the doctors insisted that she stay overnight for observation, and the next day Dolly walked to her bus and climbed on board for the eight-hour trip back to Nashville.”
All of this sounds pretty sensational — like referring to it as her 'last hope.' We bet the story is a little bit different when it comes from Dolly herself!
Until then, we'll keep saying "allegedly" and hope that she's okay either way! She's such an amazing soul, we don't want ANYTHING to happen to her!
