Hugh Jackman might be the nicest guy in Hollywood, but that doesn't mean he can't be strict!
In fact, if you just ask him about his diet… Hugh might be the most authoritarian dude on the planet! LOLz! That is, when he's on track for a film or getting ready to be a cover!
"Burger and fries — a burger with everything. And I spent about three hours choosing the ingredients of that burger."
Not just due to how the character is drawn in the source material, Hugh's appearance means a lot for the character:
"I kind of like the challenge, but it is important to externalize that internal struggle, that animal versus the human that [Wolverine] embodies. It's [an] important theme in the character and the story, the control versus chaos, and having that very lean, muscular body with veins. [Wolverine's vascular physique is] not pretty or, 'Hey, cool, it looks like he goes to the gym,' but more worrying. I think that says a lot, particularly [for] a character who doesn't actually speak a lot."
Luckily, because he's been all over the place between bodies for films (Les Mis lost weight then regained weight for him), he know schedules the time between films to allow for a safer, healthier transformation:
"I do it in a healthier way now. I do it with intermittent fasting, so there's periods where I'm not eating and periods when I eat a lot. And I monitor my health. I get checkups. Generally, I'm in good health, but I don't want it to go south because I am putting on and taking off weight rapidly. I know that's a stress on the body."
We wouldn't really recommend this diet unless you're being monitored and have to for an obligation — unless you need to fluctuate like Hugh, leave the dieting up to him!
Well, whatever ways he's punishing his body makes US want to punish it!
