Everybody enjoy the next 4 years, because it'll be the last we all have before O.J. Simpson is out and a free man and we all have to hear what he's up to at any given moment — he just won parole on some of his charges, and his release's clock got a little bit smaller!
The whole reason behind him not being released like, RIGHT NOW, is that his sentences were to be served consecutively, parole on some of the charges or not. The decision was made because of these reasons:
"institutional conduct, participation in programs, lack of prior conviction history and that he has consecutive sentences yet to serve."
The parole becomes effective on Oct. 2 of this year, and as soon as that happens he must immediately start serving a 12-month-minimum sentence because he used a weapon during the incident. That charge carries up to 72 months behind bars, but he might even eventually get parole on that too! If that happens, he has two more sentences to serve that carry a minimum of 18 months each!
In his parole board hearing, he said five years in custody:
"have been somewhat illuminating at times and painful a lot of times. I missed my two younger kids who worked hard getting through high school, I missed their college graduations. I missed my sister's funeral. I missed all the birthdays."
It's tough not being able to do fun things after you've done something illegal, isn't it?
We can only hope that once he gets out, he stays out of ALL trouble!
Also, do U think he'll ask Paula Deen for a place to stay, so he can re-enter the real world?? HA!
