Sorry, Paula Deen and Bubba, but you are NOT allowed to seal those court documents that reveal Bubba's “past treatment for drug and alcohol addiction."
Honestly, at this point we feel like they should just get on with it! There can't be much more in those docs that could further ruin a tarnished reputation, so why can't we just get into the courtroom and settle this shizz??
It doesn't look like that's going to happen soon, because Paula finds it necessary to trip things up every step of the way, even when rulings are going to go against her — like trying to have details of Bubba's private life redacted from certain filings. Federal appeals court judge William T. Moore Jr. could see through what they were trying to do, though, and said any move to suppress the information would intrude:
"on the public’s interest in accessing documents that the Court may use to inform its decision.”
Apparently the prosecutors asked if Paula was aware her brother had been to rehab for alcohol and coke, and she gave an answer that shifted blame, and that it was:
“not his problem but his wife’s problem. He felt the right thing was to go with her.”
This comes right on the heels of Deen losing the move to have her own lawyer NOT have to be deposed. Like we said, maybe it's just time to stand by your mistakes, take the punishment, and move on!
