marianne faithfull cancels concerts after breaking her back

Oh noooo!

Marianne Faithfull has had to cancel shows in Lebanon and the US after the singer broke her back!

She was injured last month, but her actual injury was just recently revealed, after she spent four weeks in a hospital.

The good news is that she’s back at her Paris home now.

Marianne posted a letter to her fans, saying:

”I am so sad I won't be able to sing for you on Saturday. I broke my back in July and hoped and prayed I would be better enough to be able to do the performance on 17th August, although it's not very long, but my recovery was going well. Alas. I have never been to the Lebanon though I know it through books. It looks like one of the most beautiful places in the world. I still hope to be able to come one day not too far away when I'm completely healed and have my dream to sing in Beirut come true.”

We have faith that Faithfull will come back from this though, especially considering she’s battled both breast cancer and hepatitis C.

And then she’ll finally get to see Lebanon!

This is not good news. I loved her in the movie Irina Palm working the glory holes. Another great film.

Poor Marianne. I love her voice and music. I hope she gets better soon.

Hope she gets better soon, and that must be painful. I broke just one vertebrae 9 years ago and now have to walk with a cane (took too long to get home from Mexico, go to the Dr., get an MRI and then see the orthopedic Dr. so too late to do anything other than take pain pills). Get well soon Marianne.
