Kim Cattrall is starring in a three-month running play in London, and she says she wouldn't be able to survive it if she didn't have her secret weapon to keep her in shape and physically focused!
It's hybrid between physiotherapy and yoga, and it's an exercise craze that's hit the Big Apple hard! It's a mix of massage, meditative breathing, physio adjustments and yoga poses. It's also technically 'physiyoga' but has taken a life of it's own as 'Fizzy Yoga'!
At 56, we're just happy she's passionate about ANY fitness program!
When she agreed to sign on to Tennessee Williams’ Sweet Birth of Youth at the Old Vic, she even asked her Manhattan physiyoga teacher to find classes and teachers based in London. Here's what Kim says about it:
'As I get older, I find that cardio is less important to me. What I want to do more of is intense stretching. I'm not worried about injuring myself because a regular yoga instructor isn't versed in the way of the body like a trained physio is.'
She does two hourly sessions a week in her penthouse flat, going through the series of yoga poses, going back to physio mode if a muscle freezes up. It has taught her to change her bodily habits!
'[My body] is my Stradivarius and I want to keep it in good shape not just for health reasons but for work'
But mostly health reasons, because in life — THAT's what's important!!
We think it's SO FAB that she's found a new fitness outlet that's not only working, but is keeping her happy and healthy! Keep it up, Kim!
