Angelina Jolie's Double Mastectomy: 'Her Decision Wasn't Based In Fear'

angelina jolie double mastectomy no fear

We never really thought it was, but it's still nice to hear that Angelina Jolie's double mastectomy decision wasn't based in a fear of getting cancer any time soon, but rather a calm and calculated maneuver to avoid the looming threat.

We're hearing this directly from her world renowned breast cancer surgeon, Dr. Kristi Funk (if being a surgeon doesn't pan out, she could always become a DJ)!

Here's what the doc said:

'She didn't have [the double mastectomy] right away, but probably knew with her family history that it was a choice she would eventually make. Her decision was not made overnight. It wasn't based in fear.'

As we all know, Angelina pulled the trigger on the surgery because she had the BRCA1 cancer gene, also giving her a 50% risk increase for ovarian cancer. The Doc did the surgery knowing full well that Angelina would eventually make it public:

'I knew that was her intention. She is just philanthropic to the core. She could never keep this a secret, and be who she is! She is someone who wants to save lives and she is doing that every day! Knowing that it would be publicly scrutinized… I developed some really new and beautiful changes to both the preparation for surgery, and the actual operation.'

So cool!

We're just extremely proud of Angelina making this decision, given who she is and what she does for a living. It wasn't easy, but she did it like a badass and we've always known that.

There's NOTHING cowardly about protecting your life, especially when you have a family!

What's wrong w/ it being based on fear. She watched her mother & aunt die from it. It'd scare me into doing it too.

If she also has a high risk of ovarian cancer, shouldn't she have also gotten a hysterectomy?

Re: Jenn – when a little extra publicity will be in order it will come next. For sure :D

"Knowing that it would be publicly scrutinized …I developed some new and beautiful changes" What? If not for the public scrutiny, he would have performed terribly?

re Malibu's melting - No kidding. It is a shame that it took public scrutiny to inspire him to improve - you would think that as a physician, the suffering of an ordinary woman would have been inspiration enough.

Re: Jenn – a mastectomy is more difficult & has a longer recovery time. She had the more difficult one first.

She will always be a whore. The end doesn't always justify the means.

so getting a preventative major surgery was based on what? The promise of unicorn tears? You don't spend that kind of money on dna testing then surgery if you feel just dandy about your future.

It's all in well that she did what she did but what about the people who have no choice. I had a double mastectomy and I got none of the glory that she did. I am a no one and went through 2 1/2 years of hell between infections and the next steps. Insurance didn't pay for everything and I am not rich so the bills keep coming. There are a lot of normal everyday people who get this horrible disease and no one gives them the attention. We just go on our merry way without a word and being just another everyday person.

Re: Had no choice – Please don't say you are a no one. Please don't ever do this again. It's because some people say things like "I am a no one" it makes the people with more money into "someone". We are all "someones" and none of us is a "no one". Never forget this. Rather, make sure that assholes like this "me, my and myself" Jollie woman know that too.

Angelina's surgeon pushed her to get the double mastectomy knowing Angelina would go public giving the Pink Lotus Breast Center a lot of free advertising. When you break down the numbers and percentages Angelinas chance of getting Breast Cancer were not that high. She made a bad decision .

This attention-whoring skank is not aging well. She's starting to look like a tired version of skeletor. It's been a while since we found out this bitch had her tits chopped off, and she hasn't done anything of note in a while, and so because she can't stand it when people aren't fawning all over her, she revisits this topic. STFU Skankelina. I don't care why she did what she did, and she's not admirable for her actions, because most people don't have her resources and so they don't have her options. Jolie is an asshole.

because fear is a low vibration thats why, its says "I have no power. No hope, so I'll do xyz to avoid xyz….its not an original human genome characteristic. In others words; its very lizard brain to have fear, anger, jealousy, all those a rea low characteristics. End of class. lols.
