While we are excited for ALL of it, some people are pret-ty pissed off that a few of the contestants this season are already TRAINED DANCERS. What, are they trying to fix the outcome??
Nah, we don't see them as ringers… but a whole lot of other people do! We're talking about Elizabeth Berkley and Corbin Bleu, who have extensive dance training AND Broadway experience!
Here's what one veteran stage producer had to say:
“It’s not fair! They have the muscle memory about the ways to do this. I think it’s dishonest that [the show doesn't] level the playing field.”
We get that — but won't they still be fun to watch?? Here's what Elizabeth had to say about her past:
“I was blessed enough to have parents that got me into dance from a very young age. I don’t know if they knew that it was going to be something that I was going to devote my whole life to. … When they noticed pretty early on, though, that I had a propensity for it, as well as a desire to do it almost on a daily basis — which then turned into about 17 lessons a week — it was me pushing and driving them … It’s been a profound thing in my life.”
Okay so that sounds a LITTLE bit unfair! Not enough for us to get all worked up over it, it's just DWTS!! Fun trumps all!
Likewise, Corbin has have been in jazz and ballet since the age the age of two, accepted to the prestigious Debbie Allen Dance Academy as a teen, and was in High School Musical in 2006. Plus he's been on Broadway.
Oh, and he's already been on DWTS before, and given standing ovations:
Fans have been losing their minds on Twitter over this!!
Do U think it's a big deal — does it defeat the purpose of the show?? We still think it'll be one hell of a season!
We've been hearing a lot about CTE recently -- chronic traumatic encephalopathy, the brain disease caused by repeated blows to the head in athletes like football players -- and now Cuba Gooding Jr. has made some inneresting comments about it and O.J. Simpson.
