Here's a fun question: if you're as good at something as Serena Williams is at dominating the court, do you ever get tired of winning??
Doesn't look like it!
Serena was leaping and cheering as she let the joy explode out of her for winning in the women's final at the U.S. Open. This was the FIFTH time she had done so, and from the way she celebrated you would've thought it was her first!
She beat Victoria Azarenka 7-5, 6-7 (6-8), 6-1 for her 17th Grand Slam singles title! Holy shizz! Apparently that's only one fewer than Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova, who top the all-time list!
Here's what she said:
"When you're always trying to write history, or join history in my case, maybe you just get a little more nervous than you should. I got a little uptight. Vika's such a great opponent; she's such a fighter. It was never over until match point. I thought, 'This is outrageous that I'm still out here,' because I had had a great opportunity to win already. So I thought — you know what? — I just have to relax, calm down, and play smarter tennis."
Obvi, it worked!
We are SO excited for her, even though she wins time after time! Still a champion of our hearts, though!
