    Have I completely lost touch with what the word "Selfie" means?

    I mean the fact that *someone else* is taking the picture kind of defeats the idea of it being a "selfie"

    A selfie is when you take a photo of yourself. When someone else takes a photo of you it's called, a photo. The fact that celebrities pose for snaps don't mean they become "selfies". A selfie also does not mean "photo taken with a phone". You can take selfies with a professional camera as well, derived from "self-portrait". Please don't use the word to describe photos taken by other people.
