Billy Connolly, who was in Muppet Treasure Island (and Brave) and is loved by everyone who meets him, dropped double bad news on us today — things we wish weren't true and a part of real life: he has had prostate cancer surgery, and has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.
Cancer is NEVER good news, but at least the surgery was a complete success and he's now fully recovered from it!
Here's what his spokesperson said:
"The operation was a total success, and Billy is fully recovered. [He] recently underwent minor surgery in America after being diagnosed with the very early stages of prostate cancer."
We wish that had been the only announcement, but she didn't stop there:
"In addition, Billy has been assessed as having the initial symptoms of Parkinson's disease, for which he is receiving the appropriate treatment. Billy has been assured by experts that the findings will in no way inhibit or affect his ability to work, and he will start filming a TV series in the near future, as well as undertaking an extensive theatrical tour of New Zealand in the new year."
Ugh! It has to be SO HARD to beat cancer one day, just to find out you have Parkinson's the next!
Luckily, with the right meds, he'll probably continue to lead a full and active life — and it's only the early stages.
We can only wish the best for Billy, as he truly is one of the bright-spots in Hollywood!
